Breast Reduction to Improve Health and Appearance
Although a full, hourglass figure is considered beautiful, overly large breasts can affect a woman’s appearance and self-confidence. In many cases, a full-chested woman can experience significant discomfort because of the size of her breasts. Fortunately, Drs. Richard Bendor-Samuel and Louis Boileau offer breast reduction surgery at their Nova Scotia practice. Women who have breast reductions are some of the most satisfied patients because they achieve better functionality and improved quality of life. Contact The Landings Surgical Centre to find out if you are a candidate for a breast reduction.
What Happens during Breast Reduction Surgery?
There are several ways that your doctor can perform breast reduction surgery. The right technique for you will depend on your body type and the amount of skin to be removed. The anchor incision pattern is the most common method. Dr. Bendor-Samuel or Dr. Boileau will create an incision along your breast crease. Another will run up to your areola. Alternatively, your doctor could make a “lollipop-shaped” incision around your areola and down to your breast crease.
Through the incisions, Dr. Bendor-Samuel or Dr. Boileau will trim away extra tissue and fat. In some cases, liposuction alone may achieve the desired results. If you have stretched or overly large areolas, the doctor will also remove extra skin from their circumference. He will also raise your nipples, as needed. Finally, he will close the incisions with careful techniques for minimal scarring. The nipples stay attached to you at all times so sensation is usually maintained.
Benefits of Breast Reduction
Breast reduction can have both practical and aesthetic benefits. First, your more proportionate breasts will enhance your figure. Your entire body may look noticeably slimmer. In turn, you may feel much more confident. Following breast reduction, you may also feel better physically. The treatment can ease back pain due to heavy breasts, and it can eliminate chafing under your breast crease. If your breasts were extremely large, the surgery can reduce your risk for back problems. You may also enjoy a fuller range of physical activities.
Due to the far-reaching benefits of breast reduction, women who undergo this procedure are some of our happiest patients. Dr. Bendor-Samuel and Dr. Boileau have a great deal of experience with this procedure. They have performed over 5000 such surgeries throughout the course of their careers.
